If you ask me who my first love was, I would have a hard time to recollect my first (the very first) encounter with love. I don’t know if it was the guy who had impressed me with his daring skills (rowdy skills rather) in 5th standard or if it was the local vegetable vendor who was probably the first English speaking vendor I had met. I asked him why he was there instead of his dad and he replied, ‘I don’t come here as I am pursuing my graduation but my father is unwell so I am here ’. I was so impressed by his sense of responsibility. I was 13 yrs old then. Or maybe it was Salman Khan for whom I decided to become an author (I thought I would be a famous author and would get to meet him). I still want to be a writer but of course the reasons have changed.
There are umpteen incidents when I was in love. Sometimes with the person, sometimes with the circumstances. Sometimes for 2 days and sometimes for just two hours! Though I now realize what true love actually means. And I must confess that I have discovered it after being married to Sanjay. He taught me a new definition of love and I would always be grateful to him for this.
What has made me fall in love like crazy? Of course I know a sensible person wont call the above stated incidents ‘love’ but I love using the term ‘love’. Why? Because I believe in love.
The first and the most basic, beginning step to find love is to first believe in it.
Believe in it. Understand it. Have faith that it can happen to you.
Without faith, nothing remains permanent. Only faith can carry things for ever. So from today, start believing in it. Tell yourself that someone will fall in love with you. That you will fall in love with someone.
And then.. be open for it.
Have a love(ly) weekend!

reading this first thing in the week, and feeling wonderfully uplifted. love happens every moment, every day, if you just believe in it. while this post might overtly appear to be aimed at those seeking love, it is richly layered, and i loved how it made me think about being surrounded by love, and being able to experience loving at every turn. thank you, surabhi. my week will surely be love-ly.
