Sorry for not being too active here. But trust me, I am crazily tied up with lots of things in life. I am pursuing a MA in Psychology from Ignou so those lofty assignments consume many many hours and then I am also planning for a PhD so preparing a proposal takes a toll on the blog. And whatever little time remains, I spend it in pampering my eyes on Pinterest. I am kind of glued to the site and I love it. I have created some boards that you may enjoy. Have a look and if you like them, please do follow.
Since I have been spending way too much time on Pinterest, I have kind of developed a fascination of photographs and have virtually travelled to many places across the world. Thus, I decided to do a post on the most romantic places in the world. Hope you love the picks as much as I do. I would confess that this list can be unending as we have different choices and then every place is beautiful. But I have picked yo these places as per my choice - a place that is not too crowded but also not too secluded. I have tried to include the places that I have been to so I can narrate my personal experience. Also, I have given preference to places that have romance in the air, if you understand what I mean ;). Here you go!
1. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India
Okay, I live here so that is the definitely the reason for putting it on place 1 but trust me, this place indeed needs more attention. It is a quite place that can offer you picturesque views of endless seas with aqua green and aqua blue waters.
You visit Neil or Havelock Island and you see newly married couples swooning. Thats how you see romance in the air here.
2. Holland
I am somehow biased to this place. I have spent a wonderful, beuatiful one year in the country and I loved every bit of it. The picture below shows the lane of my house. I lived in a room on the attic of the top floor of the first building in the picture.
This place does not have mountains or uphills/downhills but its country side is rich in greenery and wide pastures that give you a chance to cuddle with your partner. Dutch people are also nice, sweet people who wont stare you ever! SO, you can be yourself, aaram se.
And here you can see the Den Haag beach from above!
3. Rome and Venice, Italy
I just spent an afternoon at Italy airport and I was taken away by its beauty. From the top of the plane, I could feel the Tuscany sun. No wonder, so many classic romantic movies have been shot here. A room with a view, under the tuscany sun, roman holiday, Only you to name a few! And this is the marvelous Venice!
4. Mauritius
Oh my God! I cant probably explain how beautiful this little country is. The people are laid back, landscapes are amazing and there is a serenity, warmth in the air. It is a MUST visit place. I had an opportunity to spend 15 days in Mauritius in 2006. I wish I can go there soon.
5. Switzerland
Okay, yes, I should have out it on no. 1 ideally. And the place is indeed breathtakingly awesome. The Alps, the lakes, the green grass fields, everything adds to the beauty of this place.
When I was travelling from Amsterdam to Zurich in the train, I woke up in the morning and looked out of the window. And trust me, as soon as I looked outside the window, I knew I was in Switzerland at once. Such is the swiss effect.
6. Norway
This is also a slightly not-so-romantically-famous choice on the list but I am in complete awe of Norway. There was a time when I had set my eyes for a PhD plan in Norway and thus explored the country on internet. I went through many blogs, travelogues and felt that I was actually there.
I believe nothing can beat Norway's fjords and the experience of the cruise in the nordic region.
7. Kerala, India
God's own country. Take a ride in the house boat in the back waters. That will probably be the best experience of one's life.
8. Bali Island
A lovely island in the Indonesian territory, this island has been gaining lot of attention and attraction from tourists lately. And why not, it is such an amazingly beautiful island.
Calm sea water and eco resorts make it a perfect honeymoon destination.
9. Paris, France
Though my French friends used to tell me that French country side is the most beautiful of all, I would still go by Paris as do the most of the magazines and travel sites. I am a fan of French people (Yes, my dear friend Emmanuel, you made me fall in love with the french ;)) I have heard and read enough about the beauty, warmth and cafes of Paris.
I so wish to go there once with Sanjay.
10. Moscow, Russia
I agree, I may be the only person on this earth to include Moscow to this list, but its okay. Last year I went to Russia for about 10 days. I stayed near Seliger and that experience is just unforgettable.
Then I spent 2 days in Moscow and I missed my hubby for every single moment there. I could feel his presence in everything there.I also found an interesting there. On one of the streets in Moscow, I saw lock trees as you see in the picture below. This means that whenever there is a marriage, the couple ties or rather locks a lock on this tree. This means that now their marriage is locked! This is like a faith that locking it around the tree will strengthen your marriage. Interesting, isnt it? Wish I had a lock with me then.. :)
So, I guess that is the reason, the place is here on the list.

The most wonderful romantic destination is Switzerland because it’s the perfect place to spend lovely days for couples in a superb surrounding.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. And probably that is why Swizz is called the heaven of the earth..
DeleteI agree with your choice of Andamans( visited only 1 out of so many listed here) . Though I visited it with my buddies, its an awesome place for two people to be away from the maddening crowd and still be not completely alone.
ReplyDeleteOhh yeah.. absolutely! And I think lack of tourism initiatives is the reason not many people know about this place.. even though its magnificent.
DeleteWow! All these are really cool destinations. Must coax husband into many more honeymoons and visit these places. ;)
ReplyDeleteSwapna... same here.. I must also do the same. Sorry for the late reply.
