A DIY Snow Doll That I Made on Christmas

December 28, 2012 by Surabhi Leave a Comment

Hi All,
My Christmas was okay. It am still upset about the Delhi gang rape case. But on the day of Christmas, I went to talk a short walk around the town and was happy to see the cheer of the festivities around.
Then I looked at Pahal and decided to do a few small, little things at home to kind of celebrate Xmas. The first thing was to bake these Nutella cookies. These were not great or anything but were eatable. I am still struggling with baking and I hope I learn it one day. I can not bake a simple cake! πŸ™ You can find the recipe of the cookies here. It is a very simple recipe and the cookies taste better than the Nutella spread. Later, I decorate the house with a star and a paper chandelier and also made a snow doll kind of thing for Pahal. Here are the pics.

And here is the star.

This is the snow doll that I made. I just got the idea to make it. I wanted to use water with dry glitters to give the effect of snow. But I did not have dry glitters with me and I knew they were not available in the market so I thought of making dry snow. This is what I made.

It is very simple to made. Since Pahal is very fond of dolls, I used a doll. You can use an animal, a plastic tree or anything. Just glue the animal to the lid and stick a bit of cotton around it as shown in the pictures below.
1. Glue the doll and stick some cotton around on the lid.

2. Fill the jar with a bit of talcum powder and salt. If you mix salt with talcum powder, the powder would be more fluffy.
3. Put the lid back to the jar.
4. Shake the jar and you would see snow on the doll!

There are numerous tutorials on making some awesome snow globes. Just google. You can also learn how to make snow globes here. Along with this, I also took a jar, painted few little stars on the jar using a glitter glue and then had a floating candle in it. This is how it looked.

I hope you like my this teeny bit of creativity on Christmas. I would be more than happy to know how you spent your Xmas!
Also, just a small announcement. I would be now posting my DIYs on my blog so very soon you would see DIY tutorials here on Womanatics. Wouldn’t it be great? πŸ˜‰
