Womanatics

Enrich Your Relationships

About

Hi
A warm welcome to Womanatics.

My name is Surabhi Surendra and I love my name as much as I love myself. I believe it’s good to live.

In a poetic way, the following jumble of words describe me well..
Moon on a starry night
Whistle of the train
Infant laughing in dreams
Whispers of the trees.
First drop of the rain
Scoldings by my mum
Small packs wrapped in gift paper
Sun sinking inside the earth.
Old people talking slow
Youngsters grooving on jazz
Sushi, filets or currys
Walk in the forest or a ride in ferries.
I have lived it all and I have loved it all.
I dont exist. I live.

The FAQs below will answer most of your questions that you might about me or Womanatics.

How did you find the word Womanatics? What does it mean?
I was blogging at www.therunforlife.blogspot.com and one day I decided to have it own, a website I mean! I did some mental exercise to find a suitable (a unique yet rememberable yet short yet new yet different yet easy) name and came up with really good ones only to discover that some smart souls have already taken them. Then I began a coin-a-new word game and found Womanatics.
To me, Womanatics means woman and romance.Tell us a bit about your family. I live in India with my husband (whom I fondly call Mr. Thinker!) and my pretty, petite daughters. One is an eight years old dignified young girl while the other is a naughty one year old. We moved to New Delhi in 2014 from Andaman and Nicobar Islands where we lived for four years. My stay in Andamans comprises of many fond memories which I have gladly documented on the blog in the following posts.

I am very close to my siblings and you can read more about my family in these posts.

What do you like? What are your hobbies?

I dote on my family and I have a close, wonderful, small circle of friends who have been with me through thick and thin.

My hobbies include reading books, watching movies, travelling, having long, meaningful conversations and meeting new people.

You can read about my favourite books and movies here – Book and Movies

What is your take on beauty and the latest beauty fads?

I sincerely believe beauty is skin deep. I have dealt with an inferiority complex for a good part of my life. Thankfully, now I am quite confident and proud of the way I look. You can read my journey of overcoming my inferiority complex.

I feel it is essential for a person to embrace the way one looks and the skin she is born with. I practice natural beauty treatments. I am going to write about them very soon.

What have you studied? I read somewhere that you also worked with IT. Is it true? Why did you quit?

I studied engineering by mistake and got placed with a reputed IT firm that made me realize how I am simply not made for a computer job. Moved to another job as a software engineer where my client suggested me to ‘study marketing’ as she thought I should put my communication skills to a better use.

Thus, I went to the Netherlands for MBA to move away from IT and do something of better interest. Came back to motherland, hunted few jobs and understood how prejudiced Indian employers can be. Joined another reputed IT company to be able to pay back the education loan and waited for an opportunity to quit it. In the meantime met a wonderful man, who is now my adorable, loving companion for life, and quit the well paying, corporate job to build a family and a home with him.

Why did you develop Womanatics?I built Womanatics as a platform to confess, share and write. It is primarily about being a woman and even the general posts have a woman-ly perspective to them. I welcome you all to this abode and share thoughts that you otherwise may find difficult to talk about. It’s been four years since I took up blogging and Womanatics has come a long way. I have found some amazing friends in my readers. Your love, comments and emails are my only incentive and your kind words only keep me still hooked on the blogging. Else, given the Aries that I am, I would have quit blogging long ago.

Primarily to share my experiences with you all.

How do you know so much about relationships and marriage? Do you ever fail at them? I know about marriage because I have been married for more than six years. I know about relationships because I DO TAKE MY RELATIONSHIPS SERIOUSLY. My relationships with people around me are the biggest asset that I have.

I fail at them too, just like everyone else. There are times I am cranky and rude and mean to the people I love. While these tendencies used to strike me occasionally, I have become wiser and saner with time. I have realized that good people are the biggest blessings we can get and we should never lose them. Keeping this in mind, I do not take them for granted.

Whatever wisdom I acquire while trotting along the path of marriage and life, I share it on Womanatics with you all. I intend to help you all live a happy life blessed with lots of love. I hope you join me on this journey.
