DIY Soothing Rose Aloe Vera Toner

January 11, 2017 by Surabhi 32 Comments

How To Make DIY Soothing Rose Aloe Vera TonerToning is an important part of everyday CTM regime. It is highly recommended to tone the skin after cleansing and before moisturizing. Toning helps in tightening of the pores and for this, a soothing and calming toner is always preferred that makes the skin feel calm and cool. Rose water and aloe vera – both make an excellent skin toner. And what can be a better toner than the one that combines the goodness of these too?

Aloe Vera is used as a great natural toner in skin care. When cut off or broken from its plant, the aloe vera leaves secrete a clear gel that can be applied on wounds and minor cuts and on normal skin to soothe. Not only aloe vera helps in  sun burn, it also helps in treating acne. Lot of women swear by aloe vera when it comes to treating skin rashes, bumps, pimples and other skin problems. Aloe Vera also contains lots of anti oxidants including beta carotene and Vit. C & E both of which are highly beneficial for skin.

Similar to aloe vera, rose plant is also packed with immense benefits for skin. Ancient Greeks and Romans are known to use rose petals and rose water in their daily beauty regime. Rose water is a natural skin toner. It has got skin tightening properties which is why plain rose water in itself can be used as a skin toner. Also, rose is a great source of Vit. C and that gives us another reason to use rose on skin. Its beautiful, lingering aroma helps in uplifting the mood and thus uplifts the skin and makes it soft and glowing.

How To Make DIY Soothing Rose Aloe Vera Toner

Making of this toner is very simple as it requires only two ingredients. Just follow the instructions below and your rose aloe toner will be ready in minutes.

ingredients rose aloe toner

Ingredients:

Fresh Rose Petals

Fresh Aloe Vera gel

Instructions:

  • Break off a small aloe vera leaf from the plant. Wash it off and scrape fresh clear gel from it.
  • Wash off the fresh rose petals from the flower.
  • Put the two together in a blender and run on high speed.
  • You will notice little froth and liquid in the jar. That is our toner!
  • Strain the toner in a clean jar.
  • Store it in jar.

You can use market bought aloe vera gel if fresh gel is not available. But I prefer to use the fresh gel as much as possible.

If kept in refrigerator, this can go easily for a 5-7 days.

To further increase its potency and aroma, you can also add an essential oil of your choice though this step is completely optional.

How to use the toner:

After proper cleaning of the skin, dab some toner on a cotton swab and gently rub the swab all over the face. Follow up with a moisturizer.

Benefits of DIY Soothing Rose Aloe Vera Toner:

  • It is extremely calming and soothing on the skin
  • It helps in tightening of the skin
  • Contains the goodness of rose and aloe vera
  • Freshly made without any preservatives
  • Helps in treating sub burn and sun tan
  • Helps in treating acne and other skin rashes
  • Helps in improving overall skin elasticity

Try making this toner. It is very simple and easy to make and the best part is that you can customize it as per your skin type. You can add more of aloe vera if that suits you or more of rose if that suits you better than aloe vera. Adding an essential oil of your choice is also an added advantage.

What are knock roses? But I guess you can if they are fragrant and natural and are soft in touch.

Store it in a refrigerator and it should last for 3-4 days if you are using the fresh ingredients. If you are using market bought rosewater and aloe vera gel, then it should last longer.

Fresh aloe gel causes a bit of mild irritation because of its active ingredients. But I don’t think the irritation lasts or does any damage. Its the same as applying Vit. C on your face. If it gives you any rashes or bumps, quit applying it right away.

This is how to share MISINFORMATION!!! Vitamin E is NOT, I repeat, NOT a preservative, telling people it is makes for dangerous and irresponsible practice. 😡 Vitamin E will help to prevent rancidity in oils, ie it will make the oils last longer without going stale and getting that yucky smell. This mix will produce enough bacteria/yeast/fungus in a very short space of time to make you extremely ill. Just because you cannot see bacteria does not mean it isn’t there. If you make this mix then make sure you use sterile utensils then store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for no more than a couple of days, I’d say just 1 week is way too long and if you had it challenge tested it would be teaming with all manner of nasties. If you want it to last then it must have a preservative, a real one from a reputable company and not vit. E (which by the way, won’t mix with these two ingredients without separating as oils and waters don’t mix without an emulsifier, but that’s a different subject), and don’t go thinking that the other antioxidant that people tout as a preservative will be ok because it won’t! Grapefruit seed extract is also just an antioxidant (and oil based), albeit a great antioxidant. Be safe and don’t become a victim of the misinformation touted by unqualified people who think it’s ok to just throw a couple of ingredients into a jar and stick a lid on it, unless that is you like the idea of a hideous skin infection!?Please, please, please people, if you want to share recipes for skincare products then do it responsibly and make sure your readers are given the correct info, the thought of this being stuck in a jar on a worktop then used on the skin makes me feel ill, and god forbid someone might use it to sooth a child’s skin 😢😢😢😢

      Hi Dorinda,

If you read the post carefully, I have mentioned that this toner works for 5-7 days if stored in a refrigerator. Hope this helps. And thank you for your information. I will edit the line about Vit. E.
