The moment is etched in my mind, engraved in my heart.
You lay there, beside me, with an angelic face and twinkling eyes. Hours of pain just disappeared. The discomfort gave way to a plethora of emotions- joy, happiness and contentment. The pain and the wait were worth it. You were with me, my precious bundle of joy, sleeping in my arms, blissfully unaware of the world.
As you grew up, every milestone you crossed became a proud moment for us. You started walking, talking and asking questions and never ceased to amaze us.
It’s more than 10 years since you came into our lives and have metamorphosed from an innocent child into a bubbly adolescent, spreading warmth everywhere. But teenage brings with it, its own baggage.
It is the age when hormones play havoc in your body. The body changes, baby fat melts down and pimples attack the face. Not to mention the emotional upheavals which confuse you.

Parents seem to be dictating, school is a burden and your best friend misunderstands you. This is also the phase when you are the most distracted. Technology awes you and you get easily carried away by social networking sites and the addictive Whatsapp.
I only hope that you use technology to your advantage and not let it rule you. You think you own the world and bombard us with questions like why-cant- I –do –this and don’t- you- trust- me? You are a mixed bag of emotions!
But trust me, this phase will go away as quickly as it arrived. Soon, you will transform from a lanky teenager into a beautiful girl.
You are gifted with the ability to understand people, especially, your mom. You perfectly seem to know when not to disturb me, how to make me smile and why I couldn’t really help you with your project.
I truly appreciate your patience with your mom at a time when you get impatient at the snap of a finger.
Growing up is a continuous process. You grow and evolve, get ready to face the challenges of the world.
Very soon, you will leave the comforts of home and step out in the world to pursue your dreams. There’s a whole universe of possibilities waiting to be explored. But, from here on, you will have to walk the road alone.
We have tried to instill the best values in you, equipped you with all that it takes to meet the challenges. We have chided you and supported you. Led you out of difficult times when you landed trouble. Here onwards, you are on your own.
Remember the mantra – believe in yourself. Do not allow others to demean you. Do not let others to decide your worth.
All types of people make this society. Some of them will be your friends, many others will be
troublemakers. Trust wisely.
At times when you will be in dilemma, or you will dip your toes in trouble, we will always be there to guide you.
But the journey is long and you have to trod carefully. You will have to rise above the distractions and temptations which will come in the way as you embark on your journey.
Enjoy each day of your life and feel blessed.
You are always loved.
