My Birthday Moments: Happiness Lies In Small, Little Things

April 16, 2012 by Surabhi Leave a Comment

The date 15th April has always been very special to me. Apart from the fact that on this day I get best wishes from my very close, close and not-so-close friends and relatives, it is special because this day symbolizes a new beginning for me. Last year, I decided to give up the idea of working or hunting for jobs in A&N and pursue blogging full time.

This year also, the day marked few resolutions, new beginnings, a new energy and a clearer, broader perspective. I think I am growing wiser with age!

So, the day began on a very friendly, light note when our family friends visited us for dinner on the previous night. I cooked for them, made Palak Koftas with paneer stuffing and they loved it. I enjoy cooking for them as both of them love food and they enjoy it.

The morning of 15th, began with a call from my mum – the most important woman of my life. Her voice is itself so soothing. She speaks in such a refreshing tone that I feel as if she is sitting right next to me.

Calls and messages from friends added to the happiness and morning was full of surprise.

My helper in the house, Rajeshwari, got me Kesari Bath and vadas. That was so sweet of her.

She is a good friend of mine. Whenever I am upset or anything, I usually chat with her and we, two women, discuss about families and other things that occupy us and bother us.

Mr. Thinker was nice and charming in his usual manner. His one look or glance itself is so romantic that even in a crowd he can make me feel loved and special. It is very important for a couple to be able to convey through eyes, the signs that only the two of you can comprehend.

And then there was a sweet, little surprise waiting for me. My helpers here Bapi, Chittaranjan and Rajeshwari..all three of them presented me a very cute show piece clock. I was over whelmed. Really.

My parents had arranged for a shaanti- hawan at my home, back in Meerut. It is a ceremonial custom in my family. My brother sent a very touching gift for me.

This is the first time he has gifted me something on my birthday. Earlier, when he was young he would take money from me and buy me a pen or a chocolate. And this time when he surprisingly sent a gift and told me that the words written on it are true to what he actually feels out us, just won my heart.

My friend from Andamans also got a very pretty kurta for me. She was not well but she still came to my place after travelling for 2 hrs just to celebrate with me. A :-* to her.

In the evening, we went to a nearby Island and I floated on water for few minutes. Wow, how relaxing it was! I think that did the trick.

A random pic.. I am enjoying the cool breeze here.

So, all in all, it was a great day. I feel so young, new and wiser today. There is one very important lesson I learnt yesterday.

>> One should prioritize people in life. Focus more on who are more important to you and who do more good to you than the ones who are just there. << With this wisdom, I hope to spend my time, emotions and energy in a more thoughtful manner throughout the year.
