A warm welcome to Womanatics.
A warm welcome to Womanatics.
I was blogging at www.therunforlife.blogspot.com and one day I decided to have it own, a website I mean!
I did some mental exercise to find a suitable (a unique yet rememberable yet short yet new yet different yet easy) name and came up with really good ones only to discover that some smart souls have already taken them. Then I began a coin-a-new word game and found womanatics.com.
About myself – My name is Surabhi Surendra and I love my name as much as I love myself.
I believe it’s good to live.
I live in India with my husband (whom I fondly call Mr. Thinker! Naah.. the photo above lies. I hardly think) and my pretty, petite ten months old daughter Pahal. I dote on my family and I have a close, wonderful, small circle of friends who have been with me through thick and thin. I like reading books, travelling, having long, meaningful conversations and meeting new people.
I studied engineering by mistake and got placed with a reputed IT firm that made me realize how I am simply not made for a computer job. Moved to another job as a software engineer where my client suggested me to ‘study marketing’ as she thought I should put my communication skills to a better use. Thus, I went to Netherlands for MBA to move away from IT and do something of better interest. Came back to mother land, hunted few jobs and understood how prejudiced Indian employers can be. Joined another reputed IT company to be able to pay education loan and waited for any opportunity to quit it. In the meantime met a wonderful man, who is now my adorable, loving companion for life, and quit the well paying, corporate job to build a family and a home for it.
Two years on and I now have a loving family and a sweet home. Heres a family photo.
This is Mr. Thinker who is also Mr. Perfect, well to a very great extent. He is exemplary as a human being, a hubby and a dad. In the last two years, I have learnt a lot about him and from him.
Pahal, my daughter, is a tiny, naughty being who makes my morning with her smile and relieves me of all the stress with her funny faces and dramatic acts.
In a poetic way, the following jumble of words describe me well..
Moon on a starry night
Whistle of the train
Infant laughing in dreams
Whispers of the trees.
First drop of the rain
Scoldings by my mum
Small packs wrapped in gift paper
Sun sinking inside the earth.
Old people talking slow
Youngsters grooving on jazz
Sushi, filets or currys
Walk in the forest or a ride in ferries.
I have lived it all and I have loved it all.
I dont exist. I live.
I built Womanatics as a platform to confess, share and write. It is primarily about being woman and even the general posts have a womanly perspective to them. I welcome you all to this abode and share thoughts that you otherwise may find difficult to talk about.
