Winter season brings two problems with it – dry skin and flu. There are several body butters to combat dry skin but there aren’t many effective remedies to deal with flu. However, imagine this – we have a body butter that not only moisturizes the skin very well but also helps in keeping the minor cold and flu at bay. Wonderful, isn’t it?
Today’s DIY is the ultimate body butter for the same reason. It keeps the skin moisturized for more than a day, combines goodness of anti oxidants and lauric acid and also has the additional benefits of Eucalyptus oil.
What makes this body butter the ultimate body butter is the fact that it combines coconut oil, olive oil, eucalyptus essential oil and cocoa butter. It is highly moisturizing and gets absorbed fast in the skin. Also, it melts the moment I dip my fingers in it so I don’t have to worry about if I have to rub it on the skin. Take a bit on your fingers and apply on the skin.
Benefits of eucalyptus oil include its ability to fight mild cold and cough, add subtle fragrance and helps in treating minor skin rashes. Cocoa butter like we all know is highly emollient in nature and full of anti oxidants. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid which is a great skin nutrient and olive oil’s benefits are well known.
How To Make The ULTIMATE DIY Body Butter For Winters
1 cup cocoa butter
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup olive oil
5-7 drops of eucalyptus oil
Few drops of Vit. E oil
- Melt coconut oil and cocoa butter in double boiler pan or microwave for a minute
- Once the two are melted, add olive oil, vit. E oil and eucalyptus oil to the mix
- Let the mix cool
- As the mix begins to solidify, whip it up using electronic blender
- The mix will achieve a fluffy texture and your body butter is ready
Sometimes the mix becomes solid right after whipping. While this should be okay as the body butter melts immediately when taken in fingers, but if it bothers you, try cooling off the mix a bit more and whip again. Or you can add more oil to make it softer. I live in India where the climate is warmer and I am very much okay with the body butter that stays solid since this way it doesn’t become liquid at room temperature.
Also be careful with adding Eucalyptus essential oil. It is a strong oil with a strong pungent smell. So do not add more than 5 to 7 drops. If you are sensitive to smells, you can add another essential oil.
